NEW YEAR, NEW OFFERINGS AT KURO

With the New Year in full affect, it’s no surprise that our new-style Japanese restaurant, Kuro, is giving a 2016 resolution to foodies that’s as bold as the new-style cuisine offered on the unique menu. For those who craves a unique dining experience with innovative cuisine and a sophisticated atmosphere, Kuro is now open seven days a week, offering dinner service on Mondays. Plus, as of the New Year, Kuro is offering Saturday lunch service from noon to 3 p.m.

Here’s a look at the menu crafted by Executive Chef Alex Q. Becker.

Noodle selections include Kuro Ramen ($16) with char siu pork belly, scallions, egg, nori and pork broth; Miso Ramen ($16) with char siu pork belly, scallions, egg, marinated hijiki and pork and chicken broth; Hot Soba ($15) with mushrooms, scallions and dashi broth; and Cold Soba ($14) with nori, wasabi and dashi broth. Guests can opt to add mixed tempura to soba dishes for an additional $5. Rice donburi is a traditional rice bowl consisting of meat and vegetables simmered together and served over rice in a large rice bowl. Donburi options include Chicken ($15) with egg, sweet onion and mitsuba; Beef ($16) with sliced ribeye, runny egg, scallions and pickled ginger; Tempura ($15) with shrimp, seasonal vegetables and tempura sauce; and Cold Sashimi ($19) with tuna, hamachi, whitefish, ikura, salmon, tamago and avocado. All donburi dishes are served with a bowl of miso soup.
